On 5 May 2014, in the Sanctuary of Blessed John Paul II, the Papal Oratory entitled “The Pilgrim of Kraków” was performed. Oknoplast was the patron of the event. The celebration commemorated the second anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s beatification and the 30th anniversary of his pilgrimage to Kraków – the motto of that visit was “Peace to You, my Homeland”.
The performers included renowned opera and theatre artists conducted by Bartosz Żurakowski. The repertoire comprised classical chants by J.S. Bach, G.F. Haendel, W.A. Mozart, G. Rossini and G. Verdi. Honorary patronage over the event was held by the Metropolitan Bishop of Kraków, Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz.
The Sanctuary of Blessed John Paul II in Łagiewniki was founded on 11 June 2011 by Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz. On that day, the relics of the Polish Pope were deposited in the Sanctuary.
