Large glazing ensures the appropriate natural lighting of the house and provides impressive views, thus improving the mood and wellbeing of the user. Large terrace windows and doors optically enlarge the living room, and therefore at the design stage of a new house it is worth providing for special technological solutions to enable the installation of window joinery with large glazing.
The solution for optimal use of the surfaces around the doors to the terrace or the garden is provided by the HST lift-and-slide door, or the PSK tilt-and-slide door. The doors open in a way that saves space in the living room by eliminating the traditional opening of the sashes. With special technological solutions, opening the sashes does not require much force.
The HST door is an advanced solution that makes it possible to install very large glazing panels. The sash may be up to 3.0 m wide, and the passage may be up to 2.9 wide. This solution makes it possible to install glazing panels with a maximum area of 13.8 m2. The lift-and-slide technology ensures the stability and light operation of the system. The HST door can be optionally fitted with an aluminium threshold overlay that makes it easier to cross the threshold in a wheelchair.
An alternative solution, which works particularly well for terrace or garden doors, is the PSK tilt-and-slide door. With special fittings, sashes up to 1.6 m wide can be slid easily. The passage clearance is up to 1.5 m wide.
Large glazing areas increase the volume of solar rays entering our home. Sunlight has a positive impact on our wellbeing and gives us a boost of energy. We can also effectively improve the heating of the building, which in the longer perspective can reduce our bills. By using large glazing on the southern side of the house, we can improve heating efficiency in winter. This solution is even more effective if used in combination with roller shutters that protect our home against heat in the summer, and in winter provide an additional barrier against heat loss in the room.
