On Tuesday, 3 December, the gala of the “Polish Company – International Champion” plebiscite was held in Warsaw. During the ceremony, companies with an invaluable contribution to the development of Polish business abroad were celebrated. In the Exporter category, the distinction went to the Małopolska‑based PVC window‑joinery manufacturer OKNOPLAST Group, present in 13 markets.
The event took place under the patronage of the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology. Among the speakers was Undersecretary of State Marek Niedużak, representing the former ministry. The aim of the undertaking was to reward those enterprises that have become motors of the Polish economy through significant success in foreign markets. For OKNOPLAST it was the second time the company had been recognised in this field, having previously received the Champion title in 2013.
“I am proud that OKNOPLAST has been acknowledged for the second time in this prestigious competition. It is further confirmation that our expansion in foreign markets is both balanced and effective. There is no better reminder of the vital role that fast‑growing firms play in the national economy-roles we proudly fulfil as the OKNOPLAST Group. Day to day we simply do our job as well as possible; on a day like this we can summarise our contribution to Polish enterprise, all the more significant as we are concluding our 25th anniversary year. I know that in the years to come our strength in this area will grow even further,”
said Mikołaj Placek, President of the OKNOPLAST Group.
Conquering Europe for More Than a Decade
Based in Ochmanów near Kraków, the company entered its first foreign market in 2004, the year Poland joined the European Union. It targeted Germany first, soon adding Italy and France—countries that remain key to the enterprise today. OKNOPLAST windows are now sold in many European nations, from Hungary and Slovenia to Austria, Norway and Sweden. Export accounts for 75 percent of the company’s production. Following its strategy, OKNOPLAST strives to build a leading position in each market, focusing on high quality and strong brand recognition.
This year’s gala marked the 8th edition of the “Polish Company – International Champion” competition, organised by PwC and Puls Biznesu.
